This thick, richly colored undyed yarn in “Lone Wolf” is from our Gotland/Icelandic cross sheep.It is a gray with slight tinge of taupe, resulting in a warmer shade of gray. Just lovely. This will work up quickly and be-oh-so warm! 3-ply bulky weight 145 yds/4oz skein.
Our Icelandic/ Gotland yarns are a fantastic mix of the best of both breeds. Icelandic wool is lofty and quite weather resistant. Gotland wool is silky with a wonderful luster. The yarn from this cross is so versatile and lovely to work with. Great for warm winter sweaters and knit jackets, hats, scarves, mittens, blankets and throws. Both of these sheep breeds’ wool is great for felting , as well. I love knitting mittens in a larger size and then felting them to make a strong and nearly waterproof pair of ” Fishermen’s mittens”. This yarn is a 3-ply bulky weight. 210 yds in a lovely shade of gray – 8.6oz of beautiful wool!
Kissel is a Gotland/Icelandic ewe whose fleece represents the two breeds well. This yarn has the loftiness of a true Icelandic lope, but spun a bit tighter. It would be wonderful for hats and mittens or a warm, weather-resistant sweater. Not next to skin soft, but rugged and warm!
